Crossing Mgoun to Dades gorges 8 days.

 

DAY 1: Arrival in Marrakech.

Arrival in Marrakech, transportation to the hotel or Riad. Crossing Mgoun tight gorges to the big Dades gorges a trek programme for 8 days starts from Marrakech to the happy valley of Ait Bougmaz.

DAY 2: Marrakech – Happy Valley

Transport by minibus to the Happy Valley of Ait Bougmez via Azilal. Afternoon tour to the Tazroute traces of dinosaurs. Night with a local in Tabant (1800m).

DAY 3: Tabant – Ain Aflafal

Following a winding path, we will go up the slope to the Col Ait Imi (2905m). Notice the change in the vegetation as altitude changes and panoramic views await. Follow an easy descent to Tighremt n Ait Hmad, then walk up to Assif Ain Aflafal (2250m). 5h walk.

DAY 4 Ain Aflafal – Imin ‘Irkht

Start trekking on the Ouzirimte valley, a series of villages nested in adobe. You may notice an ethnic and aesthetic diversity (clothing and hairstyle). Terrace cultivation is one of the characteristics of this region. A chance to drink tea with the locals. Dinner at Imin Irkht. 5/6h walk.

DAY 5: Imin Irkht – Tighanimine

Walking on water along Oued Mgoun surrounded by its limestone folding walls forming beautiful gorges getting higher and narrower especially near Achaabou (Have sneakers ready). Stop in a bivouac at the exit from the Canyons towards the place Tighanimine.

DAY 6: Tighanimine – Ighrem Akdime

Another day walking on water, but sometimes the trails pass in the middle of the plots on the terrace. Some houses are on the side of the mountain. Finish the day in the famous Valley of the Ait Mraw and spend the night with a local in Ighrem Akdime.

DAY 7:

Ride on a 4 WDs to Marrakech via Kelaa, Ouarzazate (road of the thousand Kasbah).

DAY 8:

Transfer to the airport for the flight.

Accommodation (Riads, Hotels, home stay, Bivouacs, Gites) or double room.

3 daily liters of water per person.

An English, French, Arabic, and Berber speaking guide.

A Cook

Muleteers and mules.

Tents Igloo of 3 places for 2 people.

A kitchen tent and another tent for toilet.

A thick foam mattress per person. The bivouacs at night are usually next to a water point.
