Tour to the Kasbahs, Oases and Desert 8 days

Day 1: Marrakech

Arrival to Marrakech Airport. Dinner and night stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Marrakech – Ouarzazate (204 km)

After breakfast, cross the mountains of the High Atlas through Tichka col (2260 m) towards Telouet. Visit the Glaoui’s Kasbah at Telouet. From there, you drive on more twisty and narrow mountain roads with a sprinkled landscape of Berber villages and Kasbahs. The lunch break is half the way. Drive on to the South by the Kasbah of “Ait Ben Haddou”, one of the most beautiful Kasbahs in Morocco and also protected as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Arrival to Ouarzazate after 20 kilometers to find the other fascinating Kasbah ‘Taourirt’, a former residence of the sultan whose pottery houses rose up in the sky… Dinner and night stay at a hotel.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Boulmane – Dadès (120 km)

Departure towards the oasis of Fint. Once the Tagdalt mountain overlooks the oasis and its Berber villages, snow covers the peaks of the Atlas and their ample valleys showing up on the horizon. Second breakfast in the palmeraie of the oasis. Continue the journey in the direction of Boulmane with a brief excursion on the gorges of Dadès and the fascinating well preserved Kasbahs enthroned on the hills that surround the Green Valley. Far off shines the high rugged mountains. Dinner and night stay in a Hotel in the form of a Kasbah.

Day 4: Boulmane – N’kob – Zagora (250 km)

Breakfast then departure towards the desert on dry tracks through some original and impressive landscapes to have a good taste of West Africa. In the afternoon, drive on the road which runs along the Valley of Draa and that is covered in immense forests of Palm trees. It takes down to Zagora. The latter desert city on the Draa valley is surrounded by the Jebel Adafae (1027 m) and the Jebel Zagora (974 m). Zagora was an important crossroad of caravans. Day 5: Zagora – Chegaga

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Oulad Driss. Continue to the desert where the solitude and calmness prevail. That would present a good chance to meet nomads who are very hospitable and courageous people. Lunch will be taken on the way while dinner and the night stay will be in a camp at the heart of the dunes in Chegaga desert.

Day 6: Chegaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakhte – Ouled Berhil

After breakfast, transfer from Chegaga to Ouled Berhil and all the way up to Foum Zguid crossing the village of Taznakhte, well-known for the Berber carpet production. After driving by Taliouine, the only village in the Morocco and Africa where saffron is produced, go on a visit for some cooperatives to get informed on this plant. Arrival to Ouled Berhil at the end of the day. Dinner and night stay in a magnificent Palace.

 

Day 7: Ouled Berhil – Marrakech

Breakfast then departure through the Tizi N Test col (2090 m) driving by wonderful villages and spectacular scenery. You will have the chance to see Argan, a type of tree existing only the West of Morocco and Mexico. Later, a visit to the Tinmel mosque which was built at the time of the Almohads. Continue to Marrakech and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 8: Marrakech

Breakfast at the hotel with a possibility to extend the stay in Marrakech or Agadir for a holiday by the sea.
