The magic of Morocco travel (13 days).

 

Day 1: Marrakech

Arrival to Marrakech. Dine and spend the night in a Riad.

 

Day 2: Marrakech

Breakfast in the Riad, a visit to some historical monuments such as the Bahia Palace, Al Koutoubia, the Saadian tombs and Menara gardens. A free afternoon to wander at your leisure in a carriage or on foot. You can enjoy a free walk in the gardens of Majorelle and the Djemaa El Fna square. Discover the many alleys in the souks of the Medina. Dine and spend night at the hotel or at your Riad.

 

Day 3: Marrakech – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, cross the mountains of the High Atlas through Tichka col (2260 m) towards Telouet. Visit the Glaoui’s Kasbah at Telouet. From there, you drive on more twisty and narrow mountain roads with a sprinkled landscape of Berber villages and Kasbahs. The lunch break is half the way. Drive on to the South by the Kasbah of “Ait Ben Haddou”, one of the most beautiful Kasbahs in Morocco and also protected as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Arrival to Ouarzazate after 20 kilometers to find the other fascinating Kasbah ‘Taourirt’, a former residence of the sultan whose pottery houses rose up in the sky… Dinner and night stay at a 3-star hotel.

 

Day 4: Ouarzazate, Skoura, Boulmane Dades until Tinghir

Departure from Tinghir on a journey towards Boulmane with a quick excursion in the gorges of Dadès with its fascinating and well preserved Kasbahs enthroned on the hills that surround the Green Valley. Far off shines the high rugged mountains. Continue later to Tinghir; visit its famous gorges of Todgha and its magnificent Palmeraie. Dinner and night stay in a Hotel Kasbah.

 

Day 5: Tinghir, Nkob and Zagora

Breakfast then departure towards the desert on dry tracks through some original and impressive landscapes to have a good taste of West Africa. In the afternoon, drive on the road which runs along the Valley of Draa and that is covered in immense forests of Palm trees. It takes down to Zagora. The latter desert city on the Draa valley is surrounded by the Jebel Adafae (1027 m) and the Jebel Zagora (974 m). Zagora was an important crossroad of caravans. You can read more in: “52 days on the camel to Timbuktu”. Dinner and night stay at a four-star hotel.

 

Day 6: Zagora and Chegaga

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Oulad Driss. Continue to the desert where the solitude and calmness prevail. That would present a good chance to meet nomads who are very hospitable and courageous people. Lunch will be taken on the way while dinner and the night stay will be in a camp at the heart of the dunes in Chegaga desert.

 

Day 7: Chegaga, Foum Zguid, Taznakhte and Ouled Berhil

After breakfast, transfer from Chegaga to Ouled Berhil and all the way up to Foum Zguid crossing the village of Taznakhte, well-known for the Berber carpet production. After driving by Taliouine, the only village in the Morocco and Africa where saffron is produced, go on a visit for some cooperatives to get informed on this plant. Arrival to Ouled Berhil at the end of the day. Dinner and night stay in a magnificent Palace.

 

Day 8: From Ouled Berhil to Agadir

Enjoy a quiet morning to cherish the beautiful garden and magnificent swimming pool of your hotel. In the afternoon, transfer to Agadir. Dinner and night stay in a three-star hotel located 10 km from Agadir and just a few meters from the sea.

 

Day 9: From Agadir to Essaouira

Departure from Agadir. On the road, we will visit the Paradise Valley located 12 km north of Agadir. After that, and driving all along the Atlantic coast, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the coastal landscapes as well as the famous village of Sidi Kaouki. Dinner and night stay in the Riad.

 

Day 10: Essaouira

Free day. Dinner and night stay in the Riad.

 

Day 11: Essaouira – Marrakesh

After breakfast, return to Marrakech. A free afternoon. Dinner and night stay in the Riad.

 

Day 12: Marrakech

Free day. A Moroccan dinner followed by some traditional folklore in the evening. Night stay in the Riad.

 

Day 13: Marrakech

Breakfast at the Riad marks the end of the tour. Possibility to extend the stay in Marrakech or Agadir for a holiday by the sea.
